"It started with this irony: Miami's Wynwood middle school doesn’t have an art department in the heart of an arts district. Due to budget restraints it was eliminated. These students, grade 6-8, ages 11-14, were denied access to arts. There was no budget to hire a teacher, but there were closets filled with art supplies. How can the most burgeoning art neighborhood have public schools that don’t teach art or music?"
